Judith “Judy” Ann Marie Arnold (nee Abney), age 61, of Greenwood, IN passed away peacefully with her husband by her side on Tuesday, March 2, 2021. Judy was born on November 20, 1959 in Rockford, IL the only child of her loving parents, the late Robert and Carmella (Greco) Abney.

Judy, a loving wife of 38 years to Nicholas “Nick” Lee Arnold; Devoted Daughter-in-Law of Carl Arnold and Pauline (Yarmilitz) Arnold, Robas; Dearest Sister-in-Law of the late Carline Arnold (Dr. Michael E.) Day, Richard “Jay” Arnold, Jonna Arnold, Loving Aunt of Tatiana “Tanya” Day, Dr. Larissa “Lara” Day (Dr. Rick) Walz, Jason (Sarah) Arnold, Brandon (Megan “Maggie”) Arnold, Kelly Arnold; Beloved Niece to numerous Aunts and Uncles; Cherished Great-Aunt to several Great-Nieces and Nephews; and a loyal  companion to multiple Friends.

Judy was a 1977 graduate of Bloom High School in Chicago Heights, IL and then attended Prairie State College in Chicago Heights, IL. Judy transferred to Columbia College Chicago and in 1981 earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Communications.

October 24, 1981, Judy attended a cable television system open house in Park Forest, IL in search of an employment opportunity and inadvertently met her future husband Nick. The two of them were married one year later on October 24, 1982 and over the next six years, Nick’s cable television career and relocation opportunities would have the two of them leave the Chicago area and begin a journey crisscrossing the country starting in Tucson, AZ then moving to Denton, TX and then on to Ft. Wayne, IN before settling in Greenwood, IN.

At various times over the years, Judy was involved in multiple sales and marketing roles in the cable television industry and she later excelled in retail sales. Judy’s incredible sense of humor and playfulness touched all who came into her life. She was known for her quick wit, infectious smile, gift of gab, and a laugh that would bring tears to her eyes (and just happen to have a tissue handy), as well as her kind, compassionate and often child-like spirit.

Judy enjoyed a variety of music and was an accomplished musician who began playing the accordion during her youth and would travel around Illinois with her parents to perform in various competitions throughout her teenage years. Judy continued to play for fun the remainder of her life and it was not uncommon for Judy to likewise relax at home while playing her piano.

Some of Judy’s fondest memories include her honeymoon in Hawaii and return trips to the Islands, plus vacations in Mexico and her annual trip in October to Daytona Beach to visit with the many friends they made while there.

Judy was an avid sports enthusiast both as a spectator and a participant. It was not unusual to find Judy at the gym completing a rigorous workout or finishing a 500 mini-marathon in her color-coordinated workout attire – headband included! Judy would regularly follow her favorite teams including the Colts, Bears, Bulls, Pacers, and of course her Cubs and White Sox. However, when it came to sports, Judy’s passion was the Indianapolis 500. Her friends always knew the Indy 500 was approaching as Judy would be dressed in her never ending black and white checkered outfits and matching accessories throughout the month of May.

In addition to her husband, family and friends, Judy’s other loves in life were her beloved dogs beginning with Fifi at the age of 5 up to her current canine playmate Ranger and the many other companions in between. Judy took great pleasure in taking them on walks and caring for their needs.

Judy was preceded in death by her parents Robert and Carmella (Greco) Abney along with numerous Aunts and Uncles and Cousins and Friends.
