Judith J. Hebenstreit, 89, of Indianapolis passed away December 5, 2021. She was born April 23, 1932, in Carey, Ohio, the second of six children to the late Joseph F. and Anna Margaret (Pipes) Dible. She married Nathan Kenny in 1956. Shortly after moving to Indianapolis in 1981, Nathan unexpectedly passed away after 25 years of marriage. She later married Thomas Hebenstreit on March 31, 1984.
Judy was a 1950 graduate of Carey High School. She went on to receive her Bachelor of Science from Bowling Green University in 1954, and later her Master’s in Education from Kent State University. She went on to teach mainly high school English for over 20 years. She was a member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Chapter DJ PEO, Alpha Chi Omega sorority, and the Carolyn Scott Harrison Chapter DAR. She enjoyed playing golf and cross-stitch, was an avid reader, and travelling extensively with Tom in retirement.
She is survived by her loving husband of 37 years, Thomas Hebenstreit; three sons, Douglas Kenny, Thomas (Catherine) Kenny, Robert (Sharon) Kenny; four stepchildren, Ann (Brian) Ponty, Michael (Sheila) Hebenstreit, David (Mary Anne) Hebenstreit, and Daniel (Carol) Hebenstreit; former daughter-in-law, Linda Nichols Kenny; and 14 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Corrine Hampton and the other special women who assisted Judy and allowed her to age in place; Vera, Shab, Alana, and Vasha.
Private services will be held at a later date.
