Judith Dianne (Cary) Connor

Judith Dianne (Cary) Connor, 77, of Carmel passed away in the loving presence of her four daughters on February 12, 2017.

Judy was born on July 18, 1939, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the daughter of Norman and Dorothy Cary of Indianapolis, Indiana.

Judy attended Broad Ripple High School in Indianapolis, attended Purdue University, and graduated from the University of Tulsa with her B.S. in mathematics. She was also a member of Delta Gamma Sorority.

Judy was an extraordinary mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend – known for her kind nature, generosity, and patience. Judy loved teaching, music, and her volunteer work with the Girl Scouts. She also remained active with her college sorority alumni group.
Judy began a teaching career in mathematics in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She later taught math at Carmel High School. Judy went on to tutor high school and college math students for almost 20 years later.

Judy courageously faced a diagnosis of multiple sclerosis early in her life, but continued to raise four daughters and remain a vibrant and active member of her community. She was known for her gentle spirit and fierce determination, not to let MS slow her down, and it never did.

She is survived by her four daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah Connor (Steve Brumbaugh) of McLean Virginia; Susan Joseph (Anthony Joseph) of West Friendship, Maryland; Jennifer Owens (Jay Owens) of Flower Mound, Texas; and Melissa Hampton (David Hampton) of Vernon Hills, Illinois. She is further survived by nine grandchildren: Sam and Lily Brumbaugh; Stephanie and Katherine Joseph; Connor, Ryan and Brady Owens; and Grant and Lauren Hampton and her two nephews, Brent Cary (Tonya) of Atlanta Georgia and Todd Cary of Indianapolis, and her two nieces Katherine Sword of Bristol, Tennessee and Sarah Burns of Greenville, South Carolina.

With deep appreciation, the family thanks the staff of Sunrise Assisted Living in Buffalo Grove, Illinois and Beverly Medlin of Carmel, Indiana for their dedicated compassion and care.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on February 25, 2017 at Flanner and Buchanan – Carmel. The memorial service will be immediately following.
