Juanita Marie Adams passed away peacefully in her home on March 28, 2020. Much loved by her family and friends, God loved her even more and called her to heaven to be with her husband Ray and all of the angels and saints.
She was born September 9, 1930 in Indianapolis as the youngest of 4 children of Harrison and Mayme Savage.
Juanita graduated from Ben Davis High School. Soon after, Juanita met her future husband, Ray at Hatfield Ford, Indianapolis, IN. Ray had just gotten out of the army and was looking to buy a car and Juanita worked in the finance department. As the story goes, Ray got his car and Juanita and Juanita happily ended up with Ray. Ray and Juanita were married 62 beautiful years until Ray’s passing in September 2015. Ray and Juanita were blessed with two children Randy and Diane and a beautiful granddaughter, Jessica. They were also lucky to have many dogs, a wish of Juanita’s. From the time the two were married until her death, Juanita was never without a dog.
Juanita’s greatest joy was being a wife, mother and grandmother. As a young mother, Juanita sold Avon for a number of years and devoted herself to Ray and her children. After Ray’s brain aneurysm in 1993, Juanita’s greatest purpose in life was being Ray’s loving caregiver and chauffeur until her health began to decline in 2009.
Juanita was the epitome of grace and grit and was fierce and feisty in support of her family and dogs. She loved music and played the accordion, organ and piano. She read music but often played the piano by ear. Christian hymns were Juanita’s favorite. She was also a beautiful seamstress.
Juanita was loved by many and all were drawn to her because of her spunk and great sense of humor. Juanita is survived by her children: Randy (Maria) Adams, Diane Adams, granddaughter Jessica Adams, Tina (John) Nassos of Chicago, IL and Michael Tressler of St. Petersburg, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents and siblings and husband, Raymond P. Adams.
Juanita was a member of Linwood Christian Church, Indianapolis, IN since marrying Ray in 1953.
A private graveside service will be at Washington Park East Cemetery. Randy and Diane wish to give special thanks to Jessica Evans of Care Hospice whose loving and tender care helped make the last few months of Juanita’s life as happy and comfortable as can be.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
