Joyce Lynn Spears

Joyce Lynn Spears of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away October 6, 2024, at 73 years of age. She was born on November 4, 1950, in Munich, Germany on an American Army base. Joyce was a member of Drexel Gardens Christian Church, and the Order of the Eastern Star. She was an avid reader and loved watching and collecting movies. Elvis Presley, John Wayne, and Amazon shopping were her obsessions. She was a long-time resident of Caven Street on the westside of Indianapolis and nurtured many friendships while living there. Joyce was a huge Indianapolis Colts fan! She was an animal lover and mourned the loss of her faithful “Little Man” doggie companion “Poncho.” In her early years, Joyce engaged in supporting the Central Indiana political scene with many of the local, and national politicians. She is survived by her son, John B. Spears, Jr., her “daughter-in-love,” Dyanna Spears, and her three grandchildren, Wyatt Caudill, Logan Spears, and Olivia Spears. She will be greatly missed by her sister, Judy Kronmueller, her brother, Alan Baxter, and her best friend, Janie Barclay. The family would like to thank The Harrison staff, Oak Street Health, and Paradigm Hospice for the wonderful care they provided her.

 Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, 12:00pm to 2:00pm at Flanner Buchanan Decatur Township with her funeral service immediately following at 2:00pm. Joyce will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery in West Newton, Indiana. Memorial gifts may be directed to Indy Humane (formerly Indianapolis Humane Society) or the F.A.C.E.
