Joyce Harrell

July 11, 1940 — April 1, 2020

Joyce Harrell, 79, of Indianapolis passed away on April 1, 2020. She was born to the late Marion Thomas and Eva Pearl Aldridge in Portland, Tennessee on July 11, 1940. Joyce moved from Tennessee to Indianapolis and met the love of her life, Ernest. They were married for a beautiful 58 years and were truly one another’s best friends. Joyce loved the outdoors and various outdoor activities—such as fishing, gardening, bird watching, and camping. Her and her husband enjoyed going to Gatlinburg, TN and taking long drives together.  Joyce could be remembered by her kind and loving nature. She was such a selfless person, always giving to someone in need. The world would truly be a better place if more people took Joyce’s lead.  Joyce will be missed sorely by all the lives she has touched.

Joyce is survived by her adoring husband, Ernest Harrell; her children, Sherri (Randy) Asbery, Traci (Marty) Bowling; and James “JT” (Valerie) Harrell; 8 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family members and friends.

Joyce is preceded in death by her parents; and her siblings, Wilma Mangrum, Ann Lamb, and Jack Aldridge.

Friends and family are encouraged to leave an online condolence or memory below on the online guest book. Joyce will be laid to rest in Floral Park Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Joyce’s honor to help provide a standing gardening box for the Memory Cottage at Eagle Valley Meadows. Contributions should be made out and mailed to Traci Bowling or Flanner Buchanan—Floral Park, 425 N Holt Rd. Indianapolis, IN 46222.
