Joyce A. Phelps Thompson

Joyce A. Phelps Thompson was born January 17, 1944 in Louisville, Kentucky to Cleo Dallas and Earlene Miller Dallas. Her family moved in Indianapolis in her early years where she spent the remainder of her life. She went to be with the Lord September 17, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at the age of 73.

Joyce retired after 37 years in customer service with Lane Bryant. She enjoyed traveling, shopping, and cooking. She will be remembered as a good Christian woman who always gave of herself and devoted her life to her family and providing for them.

She is survived by her husband Harry Thompson; children Debbie Phelps Blair; Cathy Burgess (Kevin), Ronnie Phelps (Tina), and Missy Phelps Brennan; Harry’s children Danny Thompson (Barbara), Greg Thompson (Tina), Clinton Thompson, Carmen Harton (Bob), Marty Thompson, and Brian Thompson (Pam); 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great grandchildren; and brother Cleo “Chuck” Dallas Jr. (Pat); as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Joyce was preceded in death by her first husband J.W. Phelps, son Michael Sexton; and sons-in-law Ricky Blair and Donnie Brennan.

Visitation will be held Thursday, September 21 from 3 to 8 PM and Friday, September 22 from 9 AM to 1 PM at Flanner and Buchanan – Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Rd, Indianapolis. Funeral Services will be held Friday, September 22 at 1 PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Floral Park Cemetery.
