Joyce A. Hittesdorf

Joyce A. Hittesdorf, 77, of Carmel, passed away at her home Thursday, July 7, 2022, one day after her 59^th wedding anniversary. Joyce was born April 5, 1945, in Onaga, Kansas, to the late John G. and Beatrice A. Kauffman.

Joyce was a professional designer and dressmaker.  Joyce started “Something Wonderful” in the basement of her home. It was a custom made to order “atelier” for special occasion gowns. She made the inaugural gowns for Mrs. Pence and her daughter and daughter-in-law when Mike Pence was elected Vice President.

Joyce was a member, board member, and past president to the Association of Sewing and Design Professionals.  She founded the local ASDP chapter.  Joyce was also a member of St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church.

In her earlier years, she was extensively involved with the Girl Scouts both as a troop leader and Council Project leader in both Denver, CO, and Raleigh, NC.

With her husband, Mike, Joyce enthusiastically presented talks at Catholic Marriage Encounter Weekends to make good marriages better.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Monday, July 18, at St, Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, where family and friends are invited to gather from 9:30 am until the time of the service.

Joyce is survived by her husband of 59 years, Mike; children, Christy J.(husband,Kevin D.) Jennings, Michael John “Mick”Hittesdorf, Amanda D.(husband, Mark) Roberts: grandchildren Austin D., Blake M.C., Dayton C., and Emerson M. Jennings, Nathan M. and Dillon R. Hittesdorf, Lydia D. and Preston J.M.Roberts; great grandchildren Axel D. and Hudson R. Jennings, Lena C. Jennings, Hendrix C.W.Jennings; sister, Karla (husband, William) Andersen; brothers, Father John “Jack” Kauffman and Greg Kauffman.

She loved animals, especially Peaches and Sparky, her two Havanese.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society for Hamilton County.
