Joy Howard, LPN, got her heavenly wings on December 6, 2021 in Indianapolis, IN. She was born on September 20, 1960 to Bush and Ruby Mabry in Chicago, IL.
Joy was a loving mother and grandmother to her two children and grand-daughter. She was also very dedicated to her career as a nurse for over 30 years. Upon retirement, she enjoyed working closely with her beloved husband, mother, sister and children on extravagant family meals, including her famous pound cakes. She enjoyed reading mystery novels, decorating, listening to music in all genres, and she had a date night every Friday watching Guy Fieri on the Food Network Channel.
She is survived by her husband, Eddie Howard; mother Ruby Mabry; children Jamaal and Jawanna Blalock (adopted son Mitchell Kessler); grand-daughter Courtney Blalock; siblings Mark, Cheryl and Joan Mabry; niece and nephews TaShawn Mitchell, Angelo Mabry, Blaize and Brandon Thomas; great-nieces and nephews Jalin Cotton, Markell Mabry, Dallas Mabry, Aria Mabry, Chaan Mitchell, Skylar Mabry, and TaMeisa Mitchell; lastly her grand fur babies Tygra, Lightning, Storm, Rocky, Meeko, and Marley.
She is preceded in passing by father Bush Mabry Jr., sister Jadie Mabry, brother Michael Mabry Sr., brother Roland Harris Jr., nephew Michael Mabry, Jr. and brother Ivory Mabry.
Homegoing arrangements have been entrusted to Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East. A Celebration of Life gathering for everyone that knew and loved Joy will be announced at a later date.
