Joy Earlene Martin, 69, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away peacefully from this life into eternal life on July 6, 2020 in her home. She was born on February 24, 1951 to the late Earl T. and Josephine E. Martin in Indianapolis, and was the sister to John E. Martin.
Joy lived at New Hope of Indiana (New Hope) for over 30 years and the staff and residents became her family. She was the proud mother to her fur baby (cat), Ebony. Joy was a light to all those who knew her. She never met a stranger and enjoyed meeting other people while going out in the community. Joy loved shopping, coloring, and everything that glittered and sparkled. As you can imagine, Christmas was Joy’s favorite holiday. During Christmas, Joy was the happiest decorating the tree, receiving gifts, and eating homemade dinner. But of all these things, Joy loved her family at New Hope most of all. Joy will be missed by many.
Joy is survived by her fur baby, Ebony, loving team leader of nearly 10 years, Wilma P. as well as all the beloved staff at New Hope, including her dedicated direct support staff, Gay M., Teresa G., Breyonna G., Theresa A., Adelaine M, and Ashley H.; loving and attentive nurses, Melissa H., Madonna B., and Nicole P.; caring therapists, Amanda G., and Donald L.; entertaining day service team, Desmond J., Tia G., Sokhna L., Amanda B., and Blessing U; and supportive healthcare representative, Susan R.
