Josie Marie Wells

Josie Marie (Gunter) Wells, age 95, passed away peacefully in her home on Wednesday, February 5, 2025. She was born in Dunklin County, Missouri, to parents Alfred and Mary Ellen Gunter on September 23, 1929.

She married John Wells, and they moved to and spent their married lived in Indianapolis, Indiana, where together they raised four children. She spent many years attending Calvary Tabernacle Church. Josie was a home maker, and happily took wonderful care of her family.

Josie is preceded in death by her devoted husband, John Wells; her three beloved sons: Leland Wells, Denver Wells, and Dennis Wells; and her grandson, Brian Wells.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Ann (Michael) Kerulis; daughter-in-law, Carolyn Wells; thirteen grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and one very special niece and caregiver, Kellie Hunter, who helped care for her in her last years.

Josie will be laid to rest next her husband at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Indianapolis, Indiana.
