Joseph K. Hemingway
87, of Indianapolis, IN passed away Saturday, September 16, 2017 at his home. Joe was born in Magnet, IN on May 16, 1930 to the late Iva (Eichen) and James Kenneth Hemingway. Joe was a hard-working and generous man and retired as a long-distance truck driver. He was a devoted and active member of Hunter Road Bible Church.
Joe is survived by his wife of nearly 39 years, Meada J. (Embry) Hemingway, whom he married on October 15, 1978. He is also survived by his daughters: Joanne Walker of Henderson, KY, Mary Paris of Cannelton, IN and Patricia “Patty” Coleman (Denny) of Decatur, TX; sons: William Vawter of Abilene, TX, James Vawter (Tina) of Indianapolis, IN and Robert Vawter (Sue Ellen) of Indianapolis, IN; grandpa to his beloved grandchildren and G-Pa to his adored great-grandchildren; sister, Anna Lou Williams of Tell City, IN; and many other extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Joe was also preceded in death by his daughter, Joyce Harmon of GA.
Friends may call from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 21, 2017 at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East. His funeral services will follow at 1 p.m. Entombment will follow services in Washington Park East Cemetery.
The family would greatly appreciate a memorial contribution to Hunter Road Bible Church in lieu of any floral tributes.
