Joseph Helms

Joseph A. Helms, age 72, passed away on March 14, 2017. He was born in Indianapolis on September 1st, 1944 to Joseph Shannon Helms and Clara (Hoagland) Helms, . He joined in the United States Navy on November 26, 1962, and continued to serve with his fellow countrymen for four years after joining, three of which were spent overseas. Joseph loved his family, and often enjoyed Camping and Fishing with them all over the United States.

He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Sharon Wilson, and his beloved son, Bryan Helms. Surviving to cherish all of their memories are Joseph’s daughter, Toni Irvin; son-in-law, Matthew Irvin; four grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Joseph will be held on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan – Decatur Township, 5463 Kentucky Ave. Indianapolis, Indiana 46221. The funeral service will be held at 11a.m.on Friday, March 24th, 2017 at the funeral home, concluding with Joseph being laid to rest at Mount Pleasant Cemetery of Hall.
