Joseph H. Clark, 94, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2018. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Barbara, daughters AmyJo Clark and her husband Colin McFadyen, Cynthia Clark Hoye and her husband Robert E. Hoye Jr., and Maryanne Clark; grandchildren Joseph Clark, Colin Clark, Kate Stringfield, Abigail Troyer and Robert E. Hoye III; and three great-grandchildren. Joe was a graduate of Shortridge High School (1942) and DePauw University (1949) where he joined Beta Theta Pi. Joe served in the Army from 1942 until 1962. He was on active duty in the 98th Division of the 389th Infantry in Hawaii, then as part of the invasion of Japan during WWII. He spent his business life as President of George L. Clark & Co, an independent insurance agency. He belonged to the Mystic Tie Lodge where he served as Past Master, and was Trice Potent Master of the Scottish Rite, and was a 33rd Degree Mason and was a President of the 33rd Association in Indianapolis. Additionally, he served on the Indiana Masonic Home Foundation. Joe was active in the Sons of the American Revolution, a Trustee of Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, Junto Club of Indianapolis and currently a member of St. Luke’s Methodist Church. Joe was a lifelong advocate of 4-H, judged photography at the Marion County and Indiana State Fairs, and volunteered at the Indiana State Fair. He and Barbara enjoyed many years of travel. Services will be held at Noon on Thursday at Flanner Buchanan- Broad Ripple, 1305 E. Broad Ripple Avenue, with visitation 10 am until the service time. Burial at Crown Hill will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Scottish Rite Foundation or a charity of your choice.
