Joseph Earl Hendrickson

June 26, 1936 — September 6, 2017

Joseph Earl Hendrickson was born June 26, 1936 in Columbia, Kentucky to William Oscar and Martha Lee Holt Hendrickson. Joe attended Absher School in Columbia, Kentucky.

Joe gave his life to Christ at an early age at Absher Christian Church. Later he became a member at Second Christian Church.

In 1956, Joe moved to Indianapolis, Indiana to pursue professional opportunities. On November 23, 1957, Joe married the love of his life Veachel Mae Yates. To this union, three children were born, Brenda Denise, Linda Jo, and Jennifer Kay.

Joe worked hard to provide for his family. During his employment with L.E. Isley & Sons for 17 years, he obtained his journeyman plumber license. Later, Joe acquired employment at Allison Transmissions and retired from there after 28 years. Shortly after retiring, Joe joined Oasis of Hope Baptist Church to be with his wife and daughters where he participated in the Men's Ministry.

Joe loved his family. He had a big heart and was always there for his loved ones. Whether it was fixing plumbing issues for friends and family or taking his grandchildren to school, he was very devoted to his loved ones. Joe enjoyed talking, spending time, and laughing with family at the Holt & Winfrey, Hendrickson, and Yates family reunions. He also enjoyed spending time on the farm, fishing, word search puzzles, and watching the judge shows.

Joseph Earl Hendrickson departed this earthly life on Wednesday, September 6, 2017. Joe was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Samuel Isaiah, Carl David, Paul Nelson, and William Robert, and sister Annie Mae.

He leaves to cherish his memories: his devoted and loving wife of 59 years, Veachel Mae Hendrickson, daughters, Brenda Edwards, Linda Hendrickson, and Jennifer (Delven) Barfield; 3 Grandchildren, Ashley (Markus) Graves, Michael Edwards, and Kayla Barfield; 1 great- grandchild, Alayna Graves; brothers, Thomas A., John R., Walter O.
