Sgt. Joseph E. Nordstrom, 30, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on February 24, 2018. He was born January 9, 1988 to Rick and Diana Nordstrom in Indianapolis, Indiana; 1 of 4 siblings.
Eleven years ago, at 19 years old, Joseph made a commitment to his country as he joined the Army National Guard. He spent time at Stout Field as well as Shelbyville, Indiana where he continued his training. Family says he loved everything about the military and all it represented. Joseph spent one tour in Afghanistan where he was responsible for radar and keeping the generators running on base. Once he returned to the states, he began schooling with the Army. In November 2017, he completed training as a UH-60 (Blackhawk) Alpha Helicopter Repair Specialist. He was set to do another tour in the near future using his new skill set to further provide service to his country.
Family remembers Joseph, or “Joey” as they lovingly called him, as the life of the party. He was a loyal, free-spirit who was always ready to have a good time. He liked everyone he met and boy was he memorable. He loved sports cars, especially his 370Z, a nice cold Corona, and fish aquariums. Though he was a high-energy ladies’ man, he had the biggest heart. He loved his family and friends deeply, without hesitation, and left a mark on anyone who had the honor of meeting him. He will be truly missed by all.
Joseph is predeceased by daughter Bricelyn, who passed away in 2014 at 4 years old. Surviving to cherish his memory are parents, Rick & Diana Nordstrom; son, Spencer Bradley; siblings, Jamie (Michael) Griffin, Jason (Renee) McCoy, Jake Nordstrom; uncles, Michael Farris, Joseph Farris, Lester Farris; niece, Arianna Griffin; and friends who were more like family, Jason Cicenas, Stephen Turner, Johnny Miller, Freddy Tamayo; as well as a host of extended family, friends, and military family.
