Joseph Brown, 81, of Indianapolis passed away at home Monday, February 12, 2018. Joe was born in Hustonville, Kentucky, January 14, 1937 and moved to Indianapolis when he was 19 to find work and love (he found both). He worked as a welder and at a veneer mill. He also owned several service stations for many years in the Greenwood area.
Joe was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather, and friend. His family was his pride and joy, followed closely by his garden. He was an avid gardener who grew the best tomatoes around, he always raised enough to share. In his younger years, Joe enjoyed hunting and fishing with family and friends. Throughout his life he loved nothing more than taking his kids and grandkids fishing. He will always be remembered as a tender hearted, faithful, wise, generous man and follower of Christ.
Joe is survived by his wife of 56 years, Peggy; sons, Jeff (Annie) Brown and Darin Brown; daughter, Stacy (David) Beeler; brother, Dale (Bonnie); grandchildren, Joe, Katelyn, Jacob, DJ, Rachel as well as extended family. Friends and family may visit Thursday, February 15, 2018 from 4-8 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Decatur Township. Services will take place Friday, February 16 at 1 PM. Joe will be laid to rest at West Newton Cemetery immediately following services.
