Jose Mario “Joma” Parial Leonardo, 20, of Carmel, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, February 18, 2021.
Joma approached everything he did in life with positivity and enthusiasm. He spread love and let his light shine on everyone he came in contact with. He is remembered by his friends and family as someone who exuded pure, genuine kindness.
Joma was born on May 11, 2000 in Indianapolis. He was a 2018 graduate of North Central High School, where he was a member of the orchestra and played violin. At the time of his passing, he was a junior at Indiana University where he majored in political science and was a resident assistant at Eigenmann Hall. He was a member of SMASH at IU, the Anime club, Filipino American Association, and IU Democrats. Joma previously worked as a camp counselor at the Monon Community Center and most recently worked to support Christina Hale’s congressional campaign. Joma loved Indiana and was a passionate fan of the IU Hoosiers, Colts, Pacers, and attending the Indy 500.
One of the things that Joma enjoyed most was the game of golf. His summers were spent on the golf course – trying out his new putters, perfecting his drive, and working as a caddie at Meridian Hills Country Club.
Joma is survived by his parents, Dennis and Kristine Leonardo; brother, Gabriel “Koji” Leonardo; grandparents, Jose and Rosalina Leonardo; aunts, Diana (husband, Josh) Joyce and Donna (husband, Tyler) Adams, Neriza Parial; uncle, Mikel Parial; cousins Mika and Migy Parial, Isa and Aiko Joyce, and Kai Adams.
