Jose Luis Garcia-Cruz, 47, of Indianapolis, went to be with the Lord, Wednesday May 6th, 2020. He was born June 20th, 1972 in Mexico to parents Luis García Pérez and Elena Cruz Hernández.
Luis spent his childhood in Mexico where he met the love of his life, Sofia Garcia-Bucio. They married when they were just 16 years old, started a family, and moved to the United States in the following years.
Luis worked as an accomplished sushi chef for many years. Working in the restaurant industry, he became a mastered chef, making sushi, Latin dishes and even Tai food for his friends and family.
Luis loved to stay busy and had many hobbies. He was very mechanically inclined and helped his family with their cars. At any time of the day, without as second thought he’d help his children and wife with any car issue, whether it was a simple flat tire or if someone was stuck in the snow freezing outside he was always there. He and his wife loved to go shopping and spend time together. Luis enjoyed music, he listened to everything from rap to Christian music! He especially liked singing Christian music with his wife, Sofi. Whenever he’d get the chance he’d like to pick up a guitar and sing her a song. When he was done he’d say to her, “You see how professional I am” with a big smile that made her laugh. He also liked buying cars as much as he liked fixing them. He would ask his daughter Sesi if she’d see a car with him. She and him would drive for hours listening to music, talking and do lots of joking. He would also love playing video games with his son Eric, winning against him in Mortal Kombat, which was his favorite. After work, his daughter Jacky would ask him if he could bring sushi, and they would talk for a while about their day and laugh at their stories from work. His eldest daughter Alma would love to spend time with him after work, making dishes, laughing at his jokes, and helping with anything that he and her mother needed whether it was a password reset or organizing the next birthday party.
He loved making his grandchildren laugh, by playing and joking with them, by telling them how much he loved and cared for them, teaching them how to make sushi, made them their favorite dishes from eggs and pancakes in the morning to tacos de asada for dinner. He also loved spending time with his brothers, sisters, and nieces and nephews sharing laughs, dancing, and of course cooking for them. Above all, he adored his wife and family. He loved spending lots of time with his children and grandchildren.
Luis is survived by his loving wife, Sofia Garcia-Bucio, four children Ana Alma Garcia-Bucio, Secilia Garcia-Bucio, Jaqueline Garcia-Bucio, and Eric Garcia, three grandchildren Antonio Lexis Garcia-Bucio, Rigoberto Garcia-Bucio, and Jenevieve Luna Bright, his siblings Consúelo, María Guadalupe, Jaime, Javier, Antonio, María Elena, Héctor, María del Carmen, Alfonso, José Luis, Leticia, Gabriela, Alma Delia and numerous nieces and nephews.
