Johnnie "Skeet" Deloney

September 6, 1944 — June 20, 2021

Indianapolis, Indiana

Johnnie Deloney, affectionately known as Skeet to many, was born in the Phenix City, Alabama on September 6, 1944 to the late Mr. Johnnie “Joe Bill” and Mattie Deloney. He was the youngest of three siblings (Louise Beach and James “Ted” Deloney) whom all preceded him in death. Johnnie deeply committed as a devoted husband, Deddy to his children, and Da’ Da’ to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Being true to himself is how Johnnie showed up in life. Whether in the smallest pond or the biggest lake, one of Johnnie’s greatest pastimes was fishing. He would make an adventure out of it by himself or with a group of buddies. One true pleasure that stands out that he did everyday was driving. This was a life-long passion that was both professional and personal. Outside of his career with the Indianapolis Public Transportation Corporation, Johnnie took immense pleasure driving family and friends countless miles. Whether it was family trips to Mississippi, a drive to the airport just to look at planes, picking up a family member in another state, or a casual drive around the city, Johnnie loved to drive.

Sunday, June 20, 2021 marks the day Johnnie transitioned from this life to live in the heart of his devoted wife Mary of 48 years, daughters Lashall (Garland), Rena, and Tracey, son Michael, grandchildren, Heather, Calvin and Marvin, great-grandchildren Kobe, Mya, TeShawn, Brandon, Cali, Khalil, and Zuri and a host of family and friends who will all cherish their special connections with him.

Humbly submitted by his wife, children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and countless family and friends.
