John D. Zangrilli, 78 of Carmel, Indiana and Bonita Springs, FL, passed away unexpectedly on July 19th, 2024 at St. Vincent's Hospital, Indianapolis, IN. He was born on June 16, 1946, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, to the parents, John P. Zangrilli and Dolores (Pretola) Zangrilli.
John attended 12 years of Catholic Education first at Mount Carmel Elementary and 4 years at Bishop Guilfoyle High School in Altoona, PA. He was drafted into the Army and served two years in Germany. After which returned to Altoona and continued his education at Altoona Business College and then completed his Business Degree at Dyke Business School in Cleveland, OH. John was employed by Sanofi-Aventis as a sales representative and then Area Manager in Indianapolis and retired after 39 years.
John was a man’s man when it came to sports, he played high school football, basketball and baseball and then as an adult he played/coached a men’s softball league for years. He only retired his mitt when his son and now grandson followed in his footsteps, John barely ever missing a game.
John is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Linda Zangrilli; children: Danielle Shockey (Ed Pendoski), and John Patrick Zangrilli (Jackie); grandchildren: Taylor, Riley, Alexandra Shockey, John Aidan and Olivia Zangrilli; and step granddaughter, Evie Pendoski. John is survived by one brother, Gary Zangrilli of Arizona. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dolores, and a brother Tony Zangrilli.
Visitation will be from 11:00 AM – 1:00 PM with a funeral service at 1:00 PM on Sunday, July 28th at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens (Good Shepherd Chapel) - 9700 Allisonville Rd., Indianapolis, IN 46250. Entombment to be followed with full Military honors and butterfly release by the grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be directed to Williams Syndrome Association in John’s granddaughter’s name, Alexandra Shockey, to 243 Broadway Unit 9188, Newark, NJ 07104
