John W. Pratt

January 12, 1948 — June 3, 2022

Indianapolis, IN

John Wayne Pratt,74, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2022 at his home in Indianapolis, IN surrounded by family. John was born on January 12, 1948 in Indianapolis, IN. He attended Warren Township schools where he met the love of his life in 3rd grade.  He spent the better part of his career working grounds and maintenance at the Chrysler Automotive plant in Kokomo, IN where he proudly served 43 years. John was active in his community serving as a volunteer firefighter in his early years and special needs bus driver for Warren Township after retirement amongst many things. John was steadily involved with Boy Scouts of America while his sons, nephews, and brothers were also involved. John was an avid race fan both NASCAR and Indycar, and served as a yellow shirt at “The Track” for many years.

John was an out of the ordinary family man that opened his doors, heart, and family to any and every one he came in contact with no bars held. No one was too good or to bad for him. His love for family, children, and friends was the center of everything he did. John had a special passion for the holidays as this was a time all the family was together and he could help cook for Memorial day, dress as an old man for Halloween, or be Santa for Christmas but, his favorite title was Grandpa.

He had an especially surrendering heart for his beautiful wife Linda who gracefully stuck by his side for 56+ years of marriage.

John was preceded in death by his parents George Pratt Sr. and Ruby Pratt. Brothers George Pratt Jr., Roger Pratt, Ronnie (Debbie) Pratt, and sister Brenda Pratt. He is survived by: his wife, Linda Anderson Pratt; three sons Mark (Kathy) Pratt, Terry Pratt, and Timothy Pratt; five grandchildren Geoffrey (Traci) Pratt, Kailey (Chris) Tutrow, Ashla Pratt, Evan (Dani) Pratt, and Ben Pratt; and eight great-grandchildren Davin Pratt, Aivee Minor, Amaiah Tutrow, Leigha Tutrow, Camdyn Tutrow, Maximus Pratt, Lillian Pratt, and Rose Pratt and his beloved puppies Bella and Zoey.
