John Edgar Logan Sr., 73, of Indianapolis, Indiana, went to be with his Lord and Savior August 11th, 2024, and was reunited with his son, the Late John Logan Jr. He was born in Columbus, Ohio, April 20th, 1951, to parents James C. Turner and Susie Garrett.
He graduated from Central High School in Columbus, Ohio.
John proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, from May 27th, 1971, until his honorable discharge May 26th, 1977. During his time in the Army, he served as an ambulance driver and received the National Defense Service Metal.
John grew up as an Ohio State Buckeye but became and Indiana Wonderer later in life.
On November 19th, 1983, John married his loving wife Mildred E. Allen. They shared more than 40 wonderful years together.
John was a very hard worker and liked to stay busy. He worked as an automotive mechanic for Capital City Ford for more than 30 years. He also worked at FedEx for over 25 years. Even after officially “retiring”, he continued to work up until his time of passing.
John and Mildred were valued attendees of The People’s Church.
John was a strong, loving gentleman. He enjoyed traveling, taking many road trips to surrounding states, especially to Ohio to visit his big family. Though he wasn’t much of a cook himself, John loved to eat, and looked forward to enjoying the meals his wife and family made. Above all, John adored his family. Time with his children, grandbabies, and great grandbabies brought him such joy.
He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
John is survived by his wife Mildred E. (Allen) Logan; children: Anita (Christy) Williams, Andre Wilson, and Anthony Wilson, and his God-Son Anthony Williams. 12 Grandchildren: Michael (deceased), Rico, Tyler, Dominique, Aianna, Katie, Jordan, Dazisha, Jack, Micha, Kiya, and Ben) 8 Great-grandchildren; Survivor Siblings: Eleanor Dixon, Carrie Garrett-Betton, Mary Beth Redman and brother William (Ceola) Garrett and many numerous nieces and nephews and other loved ones.
John is preceded in death by his parents; his son, John E. Logan Jr.; and his siblings: brother Marshall A. Garrett and sisters, Josephine Garrett, Stella “Delores” Garrett, Lorraine Holly, and Sue Young.
Visitation will be Saturday August 24th, from 11-1pm at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East. His funeral will begin at 1pm. He will be laid to rest with military honors at Washington Park East Cemetery.
