John Leo Kellner, born April 29, 1949, passed away on October 14, 2018, at the age of 69. He was the 5th child of ten children and was born in Cincinnati, OH. Until he was 7 years old he lived in Cincinnati and then his family moved back to Greendale, IN. He was the son of Robert Leo and Jean (Plageman) Kellner. He has joined them, his brother Bob, and sister, Virginia, in Heaven. Jon graduated from LaSalle High School, Cincinnati, OH. He was the first of the children to go to college and attended Indiana University where he graduated with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Management and Administration. Upon graduation in 1971, John joined the Super X Drug Store Chain, a former subsidiary of the Kroger Co. He was promoted in 1974 to Regional Human Resources Manager and then other positions during the next 26 years. In 2010 John finished his professional career and retired after 10 years of service as Executive Vice-President of human Resources with Alliant/US Foodservice, Fishers, IN. Throughout his Human Resources career John won many awards in labor relations, ethics programs, affirmative action, associate safety, leadership training/development programs and positive work cultures that he developed. Additionally, John raised thousands of dollars for many charitable causes and food drives throughout his life. He volunteered many years at Riley Children’s Hospital, Indianapolis to support the kids anyway possible. John believed to be happy and successful in any life endeavor that one’s honesty and persistence were of the utmost importance. John and his wife, Marcia, were married in 1982 and moved from west Chester, OH, in 1995 to New Palestine, IN and lastly to Fishers next door to his grandchildren. John is survived by his lovely and devoted wife, Marcia (Bruewer) Kellner, who he married in 1982; proud father of his children, Michelle (John) Feeney, and Olivia Kellner; grandchildren, Ainsley Feeney, Harper Feeney, and Emerson Feeney; siblings, Joan (Earl) Vogel, Jerry (Cheryl) Kellner, Rose (Estil) Henson, Richard Kellner, George (Debbie) Kellner and Mary Jean (Bill) Angel and numerous nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2pm on October 18, 2018 at Holy Spirit at Geist Catholic Church. Calling will be from 11am-2pm. Interment will be at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to Doctors without Borders.
