John James Vane

“John Vane, veteran of the United States Marine Corps and father of four, passed away in Mooresville on August 27th. Born in 1936 in Camden, New Jersey, John was a multi-sport athlete at Woodrow Wilson High School. He joined the Marine Corps upon graduation, and eventually moved to Indianapolis in the early 1960s after marrying fellow Marine and Indianapolis native Anna Dell Dorn in 1957. John was a Teamster who worked for Yellow Freight Systems for more than 25 years. He married Virginia Loy in October 1982, and they were married for 36 years at the time of his death. John is survived also by his four children (Elizabeth, James, Michael, and Robert), three stepchildren (Cindy Chapman, Kevin Loy, and Cheryl LaTulippe), 13 grandchildren, and 14 great-grandchildren. The calling is at Flanner Buchanan-Decatur Township on 5463 Kentucky Avenue on Friday, August 30th from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. with the funeral at the same location on Saturday, August 31st at 10 a.m. He will be missed by us all.
