John (Jack) Elwood Adams, 84, of Carmel died peacefully on April 14, 2020 following a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. Jack was a man whose faith and family were the cornerstones of his life. He was born in Stevens Point, WI to Frank Adams and his wife, Bertha Grabowski and was the oldest of five children. After graduating from high school, Jack attended Marquette University where he earned his Electrical Engineering degree and started his career at Square D in Rockford, IL.
On June 21, 1958, he married the love of his life, Mary Lou Bablitch. Shortly thereafter, Jack and Mary Lou moved to Indianapolis, IN where they brought four children into this world. In 1970, they settled in and raised their family in Carmel, IN. After a successful career at both Square D and Bussman Fuse Co./Cooper Industries, Jack retired at 62 years of age.
In addition to being very active with his family emphasizing religion, education, sports and community affairs, Jack was heavily involved with the Catholic churches Our Lady of Mount Carmel and St. Elizabeth Seton. He was also an active member with St. Vincent de Paul, the Knights of Columbus, the Carmel Dads Club and the Electric League of Indiana. Jack also loved to travel with Mary Lou. Together, they have been all over North and Central America, Caribbean Islands, Europe, Singapore, Thailand, Bali, Vietnam, Malaysia, New Zealand and Australia.
Jack was preceded in death by his parents and son in-law Mike Vasil. He is survived by his loving wife Mary Lou, their daughters Margi Vasil, Lynne (Steve) Novak; their sons John (Janet) Adams, Greg (Amy) Adams; his sisters Jolene Pashan, Marlene Listle, Charlotte Kolinski and brother Maurice Adams. He was also blessed with eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren whom he loved deeply.
A half hour Visitation and a Celebration of Life Mass will be at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 10655 Haverstick Road, Carmel, IN 46033 on Monday September 14th
starting at 10:00am. Masks and social distancing will be required. Thank you for your understanding.
