John Frederick Swannell, 73, of Zionsville, Ind., passed away Tuesday (Aug. 1, 2017).
He was born Jan. 2, 1944, in Kankakee, the son of Frederick W. and Virginia (Dole) Swannell. His parents preceded him in death.
John graduated in 1962 from Kankakee High School. He received his bachelor of science degree from Eastern Illinois University. John proudly served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War, before being honorably discharged in 1971. After his military service, he moved to Chicago where he worked as a technical writer. He relocated to Zionsville in 2016. His interests included sailing and model railroading.
Surviving are his brother, Charles (Ruth Ann) Swannell, of Medford Lakes, N.J.; and sister, Linda (Tom) Johnson, of Carmel, Ind.; along with several nieces and nephews.
Inurnment will take place at a later date in Mound Grove Cemetery.
