John Dennis O’Hara
Age 86, of Indianapolis, IN passed away Monday, April 23, 2018. John was born in Indianapolis on January 1, 1932 to his late parents, Mark and Margaret (Maroney) O’Hara. John attended the University of Notre Dame before serving his country honorably in the US Army during the Korean War. Following service, John earned his bachelor’s degree in Business from Butler University. During his career, he worked as a salesman, retiring from Mid-State Chemical. John was a member of St. Monica Catholic Church and former member of Christ the King Catholic Church, he volunteered with St. Vincent de Paul Society and was a past President of the Christ the King Chapter. He enjoyed running, being especially proud to be a participant in the inaugural Mini-Marathon. He also enjoyed traveling, golfing, and especially enjoyed family gatherings.
John was preceded in death by his first wife, Sharon (Gutgsell) O’Hara.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Haragan O’Hara; children: Sean O’Hara, Maureen O’Hara Riner, Kevin O’Hara (Rita), and Patrick O’Hara (Christine); step-children: Michael Haragan and Theresa Haragan (Steve Mitchell); grandchildren: Michael O’Hara, Andrew Riner, Megan Riner, Kevin Miguel O’Hara, Gabriel O’Hara, Kaitlyn Brinneman (Marcus), Ryan O’Hara and Julia O’Hara; and numerous other loving family and friends.
Family and friends may call from 4pm until 8pm on Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Flanner Buchanan- Broad Ripple, 1305 E. Broad Ripple Ave, Indianapolis. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 am on Friday, April 27, 2018 at Christ the King Catholic Church, 5884 N. Crittenden Avenue, Indianapolis. Entombment will follow services in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made in John’s memory to St. Vincent de Paul Society.
