John B. Mohr, 89, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully at home on October 17th, 2024. He was born in Indianapolis, March 16th, 1935, to parents Robert and Dorothy Mohr.

John grew up in Indianapolis, and graduated from Washington high school.

John proudly served our country in the United States Army.

He joined the Indianapolis Police Department and served his community as a police officer for 20 years, achieving the rank of lieutenant, before retiring. During that time, he became very involved in the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP), holding almost every office within the organization.

On September 20th, 1992, he married his loving wife, Marcia. They shared 32 wonderful years together.

John was a valued member of the Antelope Club, where he served as president. He was also the co-founder of the Knightstown Children’s Fishing program, organizing many fishing outings for children to experience the joys of fishing and nature.

John was a strong, loving gentleman. He truly had a servant’s heart, and selflessly gave to his family, his friends, and his community. A loyal Hoosier, John had a devoted passion for the Indianapolis Colts and loved tailgating and attending games. He enjoyed watching all kinds of sports and was a big Cincinnati Reds fan as well. Fishing was a lifelong hobby for John. He and his wife enjoyed taking cruises together and taking trips to casinos. John took being a papaw to his only grandson very seriously. He adored his family and spent as much time with them as possible.

John is survived by his wife Marcia Mohr; his children Deborah “Deb” Mohr, and Mark (Kristy) Rutter; grandson Brayden Rutter; siblings William Mohr, and Linda (Larry) Meador; and several nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his son Jerry Mohr; his brother Robert (Evelyn) Mohr; and his sister-in-law Barbara Mohr.

Visitation will be Friday October 25th, from 11-1pm, at Flanner Buchanan Washington Park East. His funeral will begin at 1pm, and he will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
