John Allen Salyers, 92, of Brownsburg, passed away on Saturday, February 27, 2016. He was born on April 29, 1923 in French Lick to Samuel Clair and Grace Luetta (Ridenour) Salyers. John was a graduate of Tech High School and honorably served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He worked as a Lab Technician for Eli Lilly for several years prior to his retirement in 1985. He was a patriotic, generous, friendly man, who was devoted to both wives. He is survived by his wife, Pearl S. Salyers; nieces, Joy Annette (Romayne) Schroder and Mary (Tim) Petric; great-nieces/nephews, Rick Schroder; Marcy, Michael, Amelia and Riley Heinz; Scott, Annaly, Gabriele and Jenz Beck; Rebecca and Victor Cole; Tom, Audra and Marie Cole; Andrew, Kitty, Annette and Franz Cole. John is also survived by his step-children, Carol (Bob) Bates and Don (Beverly) Stewart; step-grand son, Tom Stewart and his son, Griffin. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Catherine “Katy” Salyers; sister, Catherine (Marvin) Beck; and nephew, Marvin Beck, Jr. Visitation for Mr. Salyers will be held on Friday, March 4, 2016 at Flanner and Buchanan – Speedway from 5-7pm, with a rosary service immediately following. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Saturday at 10am in St. Malachy Catholic Church. Entombment will follow in Washington Park North Cemetery.
