John A. Rucker, Indianapolis, passed away on the afternoon of December 5, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital. He was 84. He was born January 15, 1934 in Indianapolis, the only child of Albert Otis and Helen Eugenia (Welsh) Rucker.
John attended schools in Indianapolis and after graduating high school, he proudly served his country in the United Sates Army. After college, John began a long career with RCA Records where he carried many titles, the most recent being National Director of Sales for the East Coast. He loved music, especially that of Dolly Parton, Barry Manilow and Neil Diamond. John dearly loved his family and cherished the time he spent with them.
John is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Diane (Carrington) Rucker; his children, Lisa Rucker-Smith, Kira (Mitch) Sayler and Eric (Amanda Allen) Rucker; his grandchildren, Cory (Rachel) Rucker, Kelsey Smith, Haley Smith, Lauren Sayler, Linnea Sayler, Scott Sayler, Ruby Rucker and Jeremy Rucker and his great-grandchildren, Leila Rucker, Leighton Rucker and one on the way. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in passing by his daughter, Laurie Gordon.
The family will receive friends from noon until 2pm, Saturday, December 8, 2018 at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East Funeral Center with the funeral service following at 2pm at the funeral home. His son-in-law, Rev. Mitch Sayler will officiate. Burial will follow to Washington Park East Cemetery.
For those choosing to make a memorial contribution, the family has suggested they be offered to Boys and Girls Town with envelopes available at the funeral home.
