Jo Ann Stephens Parochetti, a distinguished academic, accomplished writer, and beloved family woman, passed away peacefully on March 6, 2025, at the age of 82, following a lengthy illness. Born on September 17, 1942, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Joseph and Lora Stephens, Jo Ann's life was marked by remarkable achievements and a profound impact on those around her.

Jo Ann's academic journey began in Indianapolis, where she graduated from Arsenal Canon High School, showcasing early signs of her exceptional intellect. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to Purdue University, where she earned her Master's Degree, laying the foundation for an illustrious career in academia. The pinnacle of Jo Ann's professional life was her position as a fully tenured professor at Kyorin University in Tokyo, Japan. This prestigious appointment was a testament to her expertise, dedication, and the international recognition of her scholarly work. Throughout her career, she inspired countless students with her vast knowledge, innovative teaching methods, and passion for learning.

Beyond her academic achievements, Jo Ann was an accomplished writer, leaving a lasting impact through her publications. Her work continues to influence and educate students across the globe.

Jo Ann's personal life was as rich as her professional one. She married James V. Parochetti, whom she met at Purdue, and they had two children before divorcing in 1976. Despite this challenge, Jo Ann's resilience shone through as she continued to build a remarkable life and career. She became a true citizen of the world travelling across the globe.

Those who knew Jo Ann remember her not only for her intellect but also for her sharp sense of humor, her loving nature, and her capacity for forgiveness. Jo Ann is survived by her children, Catherine (Patrick) Cronin and Andrew (Rose) Parochetti; her sister, Carol Ann (Newton) Peters; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; along with several cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Lora Stephens.

A celebration of Jo Ann's remarkable life will be held on April 23, 2025, at Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice in Jo Ann's memory.

Jo Ann's legacy of academic excellence, literary contribution, love, forgiveness, and her infectious humor will continue to inspire all those whose lives she touched.
