Born on September 17, 1942, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Joseph and Lora Stephens, Jo Ann's life was marked by remarkable achievements and a profound impact on those around her.

Jo Ann's academic journey began in Indianapolis, where she graduated from Arsenal Canon High School, showcasing early signs of her exceptional intellect. Her pursuit of knowledge led her to Purdue University, where she earned her Master's Degree, laying the foundation for an illustrious career in academia. The pinnacle of Jo Ann's professional life was her position as a fully tenured professor at Kyorin University in Tokyo, Japan. A celebration of Jo Ann's remarkable life will be held on April 23, 2025, at Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis, Indiana. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the charity of your choice in Jo Ann's memory.
