Joan M. Ebersole, 76, of Indianapolis, Indiana, went to be with the Lord Jesus on Saturday December 17, 2022.
Joan was born in 1946 in Denver, Colorado. At age 22, she married George Ebersole and headed to the West Indies as a missionary where she raised three children. She taught accordion, typing, and led choirs on the island of St. Vincent. Upon her return to the States in 1980, she continued to assist her pastor husband in ministry. She led children’s programs, choirs, and taught piano. She moved to Indianapolis after her husband’s death, where she served faithfully in her church, Woodruff Place Baptist Church, and helped care for her two grandsons. More than anything, her life was committed to the Lord Jesus, whom she loved and served wholeheartedly. Her persistently cheerful disposition was a reflection of her faith in a God she knew would always care for her. Her life of integrity and love for others served as an example to all who knew her.
Joan is preceded in death by her husband, George Ebersole, and two siblings. She is survived by her three children, David (Claudia) Ebersole of Indianapolis IN, Becky (Sam) Jones of Philadelphia, PA, and Rachel Peters if Ephrata PA. In addition, she is survived by four grandchildren (Mariah, Jonathan, Lucas, Katie) and three great-grandchildren (Alex, Emma, Colton).
Funeral services will be held at Woodruff Place Baptist Church on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 11:00am. Internment will be held in Claysburg, PA on January 4, 2023 at 1:00pm.
