As a young girl she spent time in Florida with her grandparents, her father was the editor of the Southern Illinoisan Newspaper and her mother worked at the paper as well. Went University School in Carbondale IL for grade and High school. She was on the swim team and yearbook staff.
She attended Southern Illinois University Carbondale as a President's Scholar. Graduated with a BS in Social work in 1970 and graduated with a Masters in Rehab Counseling in 1972.
Soon after graduation she started working for Franklin-Williamson Mental Health clinic where she started a successful children's program.
She transitioned to the Corvel Corporation as a case worker and from there became a regional vice president over Illinois and Michigan.
Jo was very adept with her hands and loved to sew, knit, macrame, and cross stitch. She was also always active with tennis racket ball bicycling, running and boating.
Jo was a loving grandmother to her 4 grandchildren even though it required lots of travel to see them. Upon retirement Jo and Alan moved to Fishers to be full time grandparents.
