Jimmy G. West

Jimmy G. West, 73, of Indianapolis, Indiana, passed away September 27, 2020. He was born on June 27, 1947 to the late Joe and Mary “Juanita” West in Red Boiling Springs, Tennessee.

After graduating from Hermitage Springs High School in 1965 he married the love of his life, Lou D. Short, and together they moved to the east side Indianapolis where they settled down. Jimmy worked at Chrysler as a machinist and retired after 30 years of service. He also loved watching sports and was a fan of the Pacers, Colts, Chicago Bears, and NHRA Drag Racing.

He loved to travel with his family, but especially with his granddaughter, Morganne. On her breaks from school they traveled to places like Memphis, Nashville, Alabama, and Disney World. Some of his greater excursions included his 2014 trip to Italy with his family and then in 2016 he traveled across the United Kingdom with his daughters. He

Jimmy is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Lou D. West; daughters, Kimberly West and Kristy West; and granddaughter, Morganne Dawson.

He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Carolyn Carnahan and Dennis West.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital at 262 Danny Thomas Place Memphis, TN 38105.

Services will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, 46229. Visitation will be from 11AM to 1PM with funeral services to begin at 1PM. Burial to follow at Washington Park East Cemetery.
