Obituary for Jill Mayo
Jill Marie Mayo was born the only child of James R. Mayo and Juanita S. (Randolph) Mayo in Portland, Indiana on September 7, 1959. She departed this life at age 58 on August 20, 2018 at Community South Hospital in Greenwood, Indiana.
She was baptized at an early age, then later became a member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana where she enjoyed to worship with her devout love of God.
Jill was preceded in death by her father James R. Mayo December 23, 2002 from Portland, Indiana and her mother Juanita S. (Randolph) Mayo October 6, 2007 from Fort Wayne, Indiana.
She was blessed with one beautiful baby girl, Lauren “Lulu” Marie Rodgers on July 22, 1988 with Reuben R. Rodgers. She later became a Mother to others over the years, once she received her foster parenting license.
She graduated from Jay County High School in Portland, Indiana then later received her Bachelors in Business Administration from Marian University in Indianapolis, Indiana. Jill worked as a Customer Service Representative for over 30 years through IUPUI Printing Partners which later grandfathered her into IKON, now known as RICOH.
Jill was a joy to have as a mother, sister, grandmother, aunt, friend and mentor. She was a loving and kind person. Jill loved helping others, being a caregiver and being around family and friends. She loved soul food, her favorite dish was dressing/stuffing. She also loved to play candy crush during her quite time, or watch her stories (soap operas) and listening to her Franky Beverly and Maze as she calls it, that real “Old School” music. Most of all Jill loved life.
Left to cherish her memories, Jill leaves one daughter, Lauren “Lulu” Rodgers and one foster daughter, Crystal Newborn; three grandchildren Destiny Robinson, Ayla Wardrip, and Aaliyah Wardrip; one grand-dog Lily; aunts Alda Paxton of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Clara Jones & Family of Houston, Texas; Wretha Thomas & Family of Fort Wayne, Indiana; (sister–cousins) Teresa Mayo & Family of Atlanta, Georgia; Dorothy Dixon & Family of Indianapolis, Indiana; Sheila Shrieves & Family of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Tammy Underwood & Family of Fort Wayne, Indiana; Rebecca El-bendary of Fresno, California; Pam Jones of Houston, Texas & a host of other family members & friends.
