Jill Ann Canady, 64, was born on December 31st, 1957, in Grand Rapids, Michigan. She passed away peacefully on June 18th, 2022 and entered into the arms of her lord and savior Jesus Christ. She was preceded in death by her parents Elsie M. Baxter and Lloyd D. Baxter. Surviving are her brother James Baxter and sister Jean (Jack) Grinwis, her daughter Kaitlin (Michael) Brockman, and her three grandchildren Benjamin, Caroline, and Grace.
Jill graduated from Creston High School in Grand Rapids and went on the earn a bachelor’s in education from Western Michigan University in 1982. She obtained a special education teaching position in Kokomo, Indiana where she went on to earn a Master of Education from Indiana University. She taught for Kokomo Center Schools for 33 years, primarily 2nd and 3rd grade, at both Petit Park and Lafayette Park. She went on to teach in Florida and North Carolina before she retired in 2019. She impacted the lives of her students with her enthusiastic and loving personality. She enjoyed spending time with grandchildren and friends, teaching children to read, scrapbooking, and sharing her kind spirit with everyone she encountered.
Throughout Jill’s life, a common theme was found among all who she met: kindness. Everyone she met can recall some act of kindness – a thank you note, gift card, winter coat for children who couldn’t afford them, a heartfelt letter to a friend, words of encouragement, and flowers. Wherever she went, kindness was sure to follow.
