Jetty Bauer

January 14, 1934 — December 1, 2016

Jetty June Canada Bauer, 82 of Indianapolis, passed away Thursday, December 1, 2016. Jetty was born January 14, 1934 in Indianapolis to the late Laura and George Canada. Jetty graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1952. She married Lothar Dan Bauer (who preceded her in death) on February 14, 1959 and they were married 35 years. Jetty had an accomplished career as an Actuary at Wabash Life, and a Production Manager at Stuart Warner. She was a very hard-working, no-nonsense person, and was proud to be one of the first female managers at Wabash Life. As much as she loved working, she loved her family even more and took great pride in her home. Jetty was a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. In her younger years, she and Dan spent many weekends going dancing as members of the Elks Lodge, and she enjoyed playing cards with friends and family. Her children and grandchildren have countless cherished memories of her, especially summers spent by the pool at Westlake and at the drive-in. Jetty has spent countless hours caring for her grandchildren, taking them to movies, making Sunday breakfast, and entertaining them with stories of her life. We will miss her beautiful smile, her contagious laughter, and her caring heart.

Jetty is survived by her children Angelia Bangert and Erich (wife, Nancy); grandchildren Hilary Bangert, Alec Bangert, Hannah Bauer, Andy Bauer, and Jack Bauer. She was also preceded in death by her siblings; James Canada, Lester Canada, John Canada, Joan Saters, Betty Canada, Selby Canada, and Alice Canada.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 5, 2016 at Flanner and Buchanan – Floral Park, 425 N. Holt Rd. Indianapolis, IN 46222. Funeral services will be at 9:00 a.m. Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at the Funeral home, with Jetty being laid to rest at Floral Park Cemetery following the service.
