Jesus Quintana Jr.

Jesus Quintana Jr., 75, of Indianapolis passed away on November 7, 2024. He was born in Mercedes, Texas on February 19, 1949, to his parents, Jesus Quintana and Maria (Ochoa) Quintana. His parents relocated to Indianapolis, Indiana when Jesus was very young.


 Jesus enlisted in the United States Marines on June 29, 1967, and dutifully served his country for many years. He was Honorably Discharged from the Marine Corps after being wounded in Vietnam. He lost both of his legs as a result of his wounds and was eventually awarded a total of 3 Purple Hearts for his injuries and Bronze Star. Jesus was a very proud Marine who volunteered with VA Hospital throughout the years of his retirement. He was a Veterans service officer for the Department of Veterans Affairs. Jesus was a proud Christian and served as Chaplain for the Marine Corps League Bearss Detachment #089. He was a member of numerous other military organizations. 


 Jesus married the love of his life, Betty, on August 23rd, 1969. He was a devoted husband and father to Betty and their six children. For many years, they also opened up their home as foster parents. The family enjoyed traveling and camping. Betty and Jesus would also take one weekend night to go out for dinner and a movie. They sought out a church in which to raise their family and eventually became members of Calvary Temple on the east side of Indianapolis. 


 Jesus, like many in his family, had a great love of music. He loved playing the drums and even played in a band when he was younger. He later found a love of karaoke and would often sing in his room at night to unwind. He also loved fishing and hunting. He enjoyed learning military history. He was a Master Gunsmith. He was interviewed several times throughout his life by the media in Indianapolis for his views on issues relating to Veterans. 


 Jesus is survived by his wife Betty and their children; daughter Victoria (Andrew); son Jesus (Tina); son Tomas (Julie); son Francisco (Angelica), daughter Jessica; and son David. Jesus was blessed with 16 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren with 2 more on the way. Additional family members include his sisters Maria, Libby, Tina, and Angela, and brothers Juan, Carlos, Rolando, Daniel, Nicholas, and Luis. 


He is preceded in death by his parents, Maria (Ochoa) Quintana and Jesus Quintana Sr. and brothers Mario, Marcelino, Julio and Ricardo. A visitation will be held on Monday, November 18, 2024, from 4-8PM at Flanner Buchanan-Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington St. Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229. Additional visitation will be held the following day, Tuesday, November 19, 2024, from 12PM-1PM at the funeral home. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation on Tuesday, beginning at 1PM. Jesus will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery
