Jessie Lee Ramsey

Jessie L. Ramsey, 82, of Mooresville, Indiana passed away March 6, 2019. She was born November 17, 1936 in Indianapolis, Indiana to William and Esther Larison.

Born and raised in Indianapolis, Jessie was a 1953 graduate of Arsenal Tech High School. She carried many careers during her lifetime but ultimately retired in 2000 from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles where she worked in CDLs. Jessie was an easy going woman with a very giving heart, though her Irish temper would sometimes peek out. She absolutely adored children and always made a point to dote on any child who crossed her path. She was the kind of woman who would do absolutely anything for anyone, regardless of their circumstances; a true giver. She collected thimbles of all varieties and cherished her family, especially her grandchildren (Amanda Totten, Amanda Curtis, Christina Ramsey, John David Ramsey, Michael Moore, and Jennifer Moore) and great-grandchildren. Jessie was a one of a kind woman; a true mother, grandmother, and friend to anyone she met. She will be truly missed by all who were lucky enough to meet her.

Jessie is preceded in death by her parents, William and Esther; ex-husband, William Ramsey; daughter, Kimberly Ramsey; son, Steven Ramsey; brother, William Larison Jr; sister, Esther Jackon; son-in-law, Mike Moore. Surviving to carry on her legacy are children, John (Mary) Ramsey, Elizabeth Moore, Christopher (Denise) Ramsey, Laura Ramsey; daughter-in-law, Karrie Newsom; sister, Ruthanne (Larry) Miller; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family members and friends.

All are welcome to visit Thursday, March 14 from 11-1 PM at Flanner Buchanan – Decatur Township, 5463 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46221. Funeral services will take place at 1 PM.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the Alzheimer’s Association-Greater Indiana Chapter at 50 E. 91st Street, suite 100, Indianapolis, IN 46240. Envelopes for donations are available at the funeral home.

Family would also like to extend a special thanks to the lovely staff at Miller’s Merry Manor in Mooresville, Indiana for their extended care, compassion, and love over the last six years. Your hard work and selfless care are both respected and appreciated.
