Jerry Lee O-Rear

Jerry Lee O’Rear (83), Passed away peacefully at his residence on May 24th 2017. He was the Son of Helen and Raymond O’Rear. Jerry was born on May 20th 1934, In Indianapolis Indiana. Jerry graduated from Tech High School where he was a cheerleader, in the Tech choir, and also on the track team. After high school, Jerry became a United States Marine, and there began his great love for his country. Jerry served 8 years in the Marine Corps, and was based in Okinawa for some time during his service. One of his proudest accomplishments was having the opportunity to serve his country. After Jerry finished his career in the U.S. military, he began his work as a member of the Board of Realtors and obtained a license as a Certified Property Manager. Jerry is also a former member of the Northview Christian Life Church.

Jerry was not only a family man, but he found interest in light houses, bald eagles, and loved his country. Also, he enjoyed helping to raise the children at Wee Folk Child Care. He was proud to call himself the “Chef” at Wee Folk Child Care.

Jerry is survived by 4 children; Karen Swinford (Guy), Kathy Francis (Dwaine), Sarah McNary (Dustin), and Joshua O’Rear. Siblings; Steve O’Rear (Jackie), and Sharon Bardash (Dennis). Grandchildren; Jamie, Brian (Giselle), Jessie Oliver (Lance), Emily Shaffer (Adam), Taylor, Caroline and 5 great-grandchildren. Jerry is also survived by a special daughter figure Michelle Wall and her son Nicholas.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents Helen and Raymond O’Rear, son Kevin O’Rear, brother Donald, and oldest brother; Gerald O’Rear.

Funeral services will be held at the Second Reformed Presbyterian Church on Saturday, June 3 at 1:00 p.m. A public visitation will also be held on Saturday from 11:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Following the services Jerry will be laid to rest at Washington Park North Cemetery,where his deserved military honors will be performed. Immediately following the services, the Second Reformed Presbyterian Church will hold a pitch-in dinner. Please feel free to bring a covered dish to share in fellowship. Services are being conducted by Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park North.
