Dr. Jerry D. Reece, 83, recently residing in Fishers Indiana, transitioned to his permanent home in heaven on October 25, 2020. A service will take place at a later date. It will be officiated by his son-in-law Wayne Moyer.
Jerry was born February 12, 1937 in Kansas City, Missouri. Jerry met his wife Gail, at Tennessee Temple University, from which they both graduated. They were married in 1959 and recently celebrated their 61st anniversary.
Jerry obtained a master’s degree in Education from the University of Tennessee in Chattanooga, Tennessee. For his lifelong studies of the Scriptures, he was awarded an Honorary Doctor of Divinity.
The life verse chosen by Jerry and Gail is Hebrews 12:1-2 which says:
“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.”
Jerry and Gail were called to serve as missionaries in Central America, where they planted many churches and established 5 Bible Institutes. After returning from missionary service abroad, Jerry served as missionary-at-large to the Spanish-speaking Caribbean, primarily in Puerto Rico and the Dominican Republic. He was the Editor of Spanish Literature for BIMI and wrote many books, in Spanish, for churches and Bible institutes to use in education and training. Many of his books were sent to Spanish-speaking churches world-wide.
Jerry is survived by his wife,7 siblings, 2 daughters, 5 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by 3 of his siblings.
