Jeannie A. Burgin, 92, of Indianapolis, IN, passed away March 12, 2020. She was the only girl with four brothers, born on November 8, 1927 to the late William and Eunice Childs Fugate in Tacoma, Virginia.
She grew up in Tacoma and graduated from high school where she played basketball and was a cheerleader. Jeannie eventually moved to Indianapolis and went on to work as a bookkeeper for Hamilton Harris and retired from Ikon Office Supplies after dedicating many years to their finance department.
Jeannie always loved to be on-the-go and spent many days and weekends shopping, exploring, and always enjoyed a good yard sale with her friends and family. Until her death, Jeannie was an active member of her church, First Presbyterian Church in Irvington. She was involved in a women’s Bible study and was part of Bunco and Euchre playing groups. Jeannie had a deep love for travel. Her children have fond memories of trips with her. She traveled extensively within the United States, but also traveled internationally to Spain, Ireland, England, Scotland, and Wales. She was skilled at every craft she tried and was especially excellent at sewing and quilting. She also spent years oil painting, enjoying still life and landscape subjects.
Jeannie is survived by her beloved children, Emily Carol Vogel (Gordon) and Randall Howard Burgin (Connie); six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Edgar Burgin; her daughter Nancy L. Bean, son-in-law Bill Bean, and granddaughter, Emily Bean.
