Jean Stacy Bradford, 84, Carmel, passed away August 4, 2017. She was born September 18, 1932, in Indianapolis, the daughter of the late Allan Ross and Jeanette Belle (Nunamaker) Stacy. She was preceded in passing by her husband, James Warren Bradford.
Jean was a 1950 graduate of Tudor Hall. She received her Bachelor degree in retailing from Simmons College, Boston. She was an expert in silver and fine china, and was proud to use her knowledge and talent as a merchant and buyer for L.S. Ayres and also working for Jacobson’s Department Stores and Theobalds. She was a member of the Junior League, Soroptimist Club, and was a founding member of the of Young Audiences of Indianapolis. Jean was also active with Lollipop Concerts with the ISO, served on the Board of Directors for the Marion County, Purdue Co-Op Extension, and was a docent for the Indianapolis Museum of Art and was an Indiana Master Gardener.
Jean will be lovingly remembered as a style maven with an eye and appreciation for fashion. Her greatest joy was her family. She took great pride in her children and grandchildren’s accomplishments.
She is survived by three children, Dr. Libby Bradford Roeger Ludwig and her husband (Dr. Terry G. Ludwig), former Indianapolis City-County Councilman, James (Dr. Lynn) Stacy Bradford, Judge Cale J. Bradford, Court of Appeals of Indiana(Sam, MS); 11 grandchildren, Benjamin W. Roeger, JD,CPA, Edward A. (Katie, MA, MS) Roeger, MA, Dr. Tyler R. (Rachel Keung, JD) Roeger, Erin Stacy (Dr. Josh) Tierney, Dr. Jordan (Dr. Ross) Heskett, C. Addison Bradford, JD, Bennett (Janey, BSN) Conrad, Taylre Conrad, Grant Conrad, Tara (Jeff) Gagner, BSN NP, Nicholas (Sandy) Ludwig, MS; 12 great grandchildren; and a sister, Martha Bennington.
Memorial services will be 5:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2017, at Meridian Street United Methodist Church, 5500 North Meridian Street. Visitation will be from 3:00 p.m. until the time of service at the church. Memorial contributions may be directed to Marion County Purdue Extension.
