Janis Joan Buell

Remembering Janis Joan Buell, 87, of Fishers, Indiana who passed away peacefully on December 8, 2021. Janis grew up in LaPorte, Indiana and was a graduate of LaPorte High School. She was a dedicated wife, mom and grandma. She was married to former State Representative Larry Buell for 65 years. She served alongside her husband in her community including more than 40 years as Republican Committeewoman in Warren Township for which she was awarded Marion County Committeewoman of the year in 2008. She served on the State Assembly Women’s Club committee to refurbish the Indiana State House Meditation Room. She served for over 30 years as a volunteer with the American Cancer Society serving on the Marion County Board of Directors and as the Marion County Crusade Chair. Janis was a treasured friend to everyone who met her and surrogate mom to many. She enjoyed singing in her church choir, vacations in Vergas, MN and time spent with family and friends. Janis will be dearly missed by regular acquaintances that would share their fondness of “mom” with her children and the countless, many other friends and family that were blessed to have ever received a “Janis hug”.

Janis was predeceased by her parents, Fred and Ethelyn White and her son Lawrence Jr. She is survived by husband Lawrence, children David Buell (Wendy) and Amy MacNeil (Neil), grandchildren Jessi Olden (Ben), Fred Buell, Amanda Wyatt (Jarad), Zachary Buell, Alex Buell, Joanne MacNeil and Caroline Buell and great-grandchildren Aria and Kori Olden.

Calling will be held on Tuesday, December 14 from 5-7 p.m. and Wednesday December 15 from 10-11 a.m. followed by a celebration of her life all to be held at Flanner Buchanan Memorial Park at 9350 E Washington St, Indianapolis, IN 46229.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society.
