Indianapolis

Indianapolis, Indiana – Janice L. Mann, 83, beloved mother and wife, passed away peacefully at home on August 20, 2024. She will be very deeply missed.

Janice was born on October 12, 1940, to parents William and America (Manors) Polston here, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She attended Arsenal Tech High School, but most importantly, met the love of her life, Don Mann, shortly after graduating. They were married on May 23, 1959, and remained devoted for 47 years until his passing.

Janice had the hardest of jobs, a stay-at-home mom, who raised five wonderful children. She had a short stint as a cook for the Indianapolis Public School system, where she helped raise some more. When she could find the time to relax, she loved to go fishing and camping at the B&D Campgrounds. She also loved to crochet, making booties and blankets for every child, grandchild, and great grandchild she could.

In addition to her parents, Janice is preceded in death by her beloved husband Don; children Patrick Mann and Ronald Mann; and sisters Patricia “Patty” Ledgerwood and Nancy Decker.

She is survived by her children Dana Mann (Tonda), Mark Mann, and Stephany “Sam” Moore (Michael); siblings Barbara Newkirk, Betty Sue Aughe, Billie Urton; 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren, and 2 great-great grandchildren.

A memorial visitation will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024, from 2-4 pm at Flanner Buchanan – Memorial Park (9350 East Washington Street, Indianapolis, IN 46229).
