Janice Faye Lacefield

Greenwood, IN – Janice F. Lacefield, age 86, died Sunday, June 2, 2024, at home, surrounded by her loving family. She was born January 2, 1938, in Nuckols, McLean Co., KY, second of five children born to the late Robert Louis Wade and Susie Wigginton Wade.

               She was, for 68 years, the faithful wife of William B. Lacefield and the loving mother of Shannon Kaye Lacefield and Stephanie Lynn Lacefield Lewis; respected mother-in-law of Stephen Wayne Lewis; doting grandmother (Nana) of her six grandchildren Taylor Wade Knapp (Katelyn), Colin Joel Knapp, Kelsey Leigh Knapp, Emma Rae Lewis, Nicholas Stephen Lewis (Katie) and Samuel Bryant Lewis (Edith); and great-grandmother of Rileigh Jo Mantel, Luca Remington Guyer, Lennon Parker Lewis, Hudson Bryant Knapp, Liam Mackenzie Lewis and Lochlan Wells Lewis.

               Janice was a graduate of Owensboro Senior High School, class of 1956, formerly a member and Deaconess of Southport Baptist Church and currently a member of First Baptist Church of Greenwood. She worked for several years in the church nursery and was well-known for her ready smile and loving, caring manner. Her favorite hobbies were reading, gardening and decorating her home.

               Upon her graduation from high school, she married her high school sweetheart, Bill Lacefield, and was his loving wife and mother of his children for 68 years. 

               Visitation will be Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East from 1pm – 2 pm with funeral services following at 2 pm. Pastor Sean Holloway will be officiating. Janice will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery. 

               In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations be made to the American Lung Association in Janice’s memory.
