Janet Thelma Harding

82, passed away February 14, 2020. Janet Thelma Harding was born May 15, 1937, the fourth child of Carl and Doris Schavey.  Born in Gary and residing in Hobart, Indiana until 1961.  She was baptized, confirmed, and married to William (Bill) Harding at Trinity Lutheran Church of Hobart.

Bill and Janet had two children, William Gregory (Bill) (Cheryl)  and Patricia Dawn (Patty, fiancee Roger Griego).  Four grandchildren blessed our family: Lindsay (fiancee Nick Tuttle), Michael Harding, and Paul and Lisa Johnson.  Great grandchildren: Gavin,  Johnny, and Penelope followed.

Janet was proceeded in death by husband, Bill; parents, Carl and Doris; brother, Carl; and sisters: Joyce and Audrey.  She has two surviving sisters Doris (Dottie, husband Dave) Gail (husband Greg); sister in law, Joan (Carl.)  And many beloved nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.

Bill and Janet moved to Louisville Kentucky for seven years and were active members of Faith Lutheran Church.  Both taught Sunday School.

Returning to Indiana in Kokomo for 18 months, the Hardings’ settled in Indianapolis in 1970, and joined Trinity Lutheran Church.  The kids attended the day school and Bill and Janet became active members of the ministry.  Janet taught Sunday School, served in the business women’s club, Trinity Circle, and the Altar Guild.  Both where active in PTL and the food pantry.

Janet retired in 2002 from Central Supply.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 18, 2020, from 10am-12pm at Trinity Lutheran Church, 8540 E 16th St, Indianapolis, IN 46219. There will be a service following at 12pm, also at the church. To view the full obituary, please visit www.flannerbuchanan.com.
