Janet Evelyn Israelson, 89, of Indianapolis, passed away on May 30, 2024. She was born on April 9, 1935, in Iron Mountain, Michigan, to the late George and Lucille Wilson.
Janet was an avid reader, mostly David Balduchi and James Patterson. She also loved to play bridge, and consistently played several times a month. Janet loved cooking and trying new recipes. She enjoyed having friends and family over to her home to eat her delicious meals.
Janet went to Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois, for her training to become a Registered Nurse. After she graduated, she worked for a neurosurgeon. When the family moved to Indianapolis, Janet went to work for Community Hospital East in the Emergency Department. When they built the North Hospital, she helped open up the Emily Department. After her retirement, she truly missed working. Towards the end she did health occupation nursing for Community.
Janet and her late husband, Robert, had a 40-foot Bounder with two slides that they traveled all over the US in. When their dog Muffie was still alive she traveled right along with them.
Janet is survived by her daughter, Cheryl (Todd) Taylor; grandson, Andrew (Jessie) Taylor; great-granddaughter, Layla Mae Taylor; and many nieces and nephews.
Janet is preceded in passing by her husband, Robert.
