Mrs. Janet Hackleman, of New Palestine, passed away on the morning of Thursday, February 7, 2019 at her home after a long illness. She was 78.
Mrs. Hackleman was born July 14, 1940 in Indianapolis, a daughter of the late John and Virginia (Wuertley) Scott.
Janet attended Warren Central High School and graduated with the Class of 1958. She enjoyed playing euchre, dancing, drinking wine, bowling, sewing, cooking and was an immaculate housekeeper. Janet enjoyed the holidays and she went all out in making them special for her family. She was a member of the Ponies of America (POA) as well as a devoted fan of both the Indianapolis Colts and the Purdue Boilermakers. She dearly loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She and her husband, Paul, enjoyed many activities together and were inseparable as a couple. She attended the Warren Hills Christian Church.
Janet is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Paul W. Hackleman; her children, Dawn (Andy) Sinclair, Tracey (Wes) Hill, Nikki (Mike) Hunt, Beth Ann (Mike) Weaver and Nancy Montenegro; her beloved grandchildren, Jonathon (Allison) Weaver, Hope (Joey) Castillo, Dustan Bunyard, Matthew Weaver, Hannah Weaver, Logan Hunt, Shayla Bunyard, Nick Gahimer, Josh Hill, Lydia Hunt, Lucy Hunt and Lorenzo Hunt; her great-grandchildren, Noah Castillo, Lucy Castillo and Luke Weaver; her sister, Beverly (Mike) Rohr; her nieces and nephews as well as her dog, Chloe.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in passing by her daughter, Valerie Bunyard; a granddaughter, Alexis Hunt; her first husband, Ronald Bunyard and her second husband, Robert Rousey.
The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Robert Shellman, Dr. Mary Mayer and Dr. Bernard Herbst and the medical professionals who provided care and comfort during Janet’s illness.
Memorial services for Janet will be at 1:00 pm, Friday, February 15, 2019 at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am until the hour of service at the funeral center. Inurnment will follow to Washington Park East Cemetery.
For those choosing to make a memorial contribution, the family has suggested they be offered the American Cancer Society.
